The Men’s Basketball FINAL Four Breakdown - March Madness

The Men’s Basketball FINAL Four Breakdown - March Madness
Connecticut Huskies vs. Michigan State Spartans
North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Villanova Wildcats

Who will walk away with the coveted title of 2009 NCAA National Champions?

Connecticut Huskies – On the upside, Uconn has a formidable frontcourt including Hasheem Thabeet at 7 foot 3 along with Jeff Adrien and Stanley Robinson. On the downside, for the year, they are not a great free-throw shooting team.

Michigan State Spartans - On the upside, Tom Izzo team is rebounding and the Spartans average nearly ten more rebounds a game than their opponent. On the downside, Michigan State needs someone to step up and carry the scoring load – nobody averaged over 15 points a game this year.

North Carolina Tar Heels – On the upside, they can score! With Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington and Danny Green, among others contributing, UNC can get scoring from just about anywhere. On the downside, this UNC team gives up a lot of points - over 72 points a game on the year.

Villanova Wildcats: On the upside, Dante Cunningham has evolved into a star. The 6-foot-8 senior is averaging 17.8 points and 8.3 rebounds in the tournament and his size will be crucial for the Wildcats. On the downside, Villanova is not a tall team. Of its key contributors, only Shane Clark and Dante Cunningham are taller than six-foot-seven and Antonia Pena, is 6-foot-8.

Four teams striving to take the title. What do you think are their greatest strengths and weaknesses? And more importantly, will YOUR team walk away the 2009 National Champions?
